My maternity sessions are designed to feel calm, relaxed, and natural. I gently guide you throughout the session while allowing plenty of space for authentic moments to unfold. With 19 years of experience as a paediatric nurse, caring for babies and supporting families has always been at the heart of what I do. This background naturally shapes the way I run my photography sessions—patient, understanding, and gentle. I know how important it is to feel comfortable and at ease, especially during pregnancy, and I take the time to ensure every session feels relaxed and enjoyable.

Booking your Maternity Session
When To Book Your Maternity Photoshoot
The best time to book your maternity shoot is at the beginning of your second trimester. This ensures you can secure a session date with Nicola between the ideal maternity portrait time of between 30 and 33 weeks. At this stage, you will have a nice bump but not be too uncomfortable for the photoshoot.
1. Booking
Once you enquire, you’ll receive full session details, pricing information and available dates. A booking fee secures your session around your due date.
2. Preparation
You’ll receive a location guide where you can choose the best location for you. You will also receive a client closet guide which details Nicola’s beautiful dresses for your use during the session and even gives you ideas on alternative options if you would rather wear your own clothing.
3. Session Day
Sessions typically last 1 hour at either Sunrise or Sunset. This gives very soft, even, flattering light. You will receive an exact location and meeting time, one week prior to your shoot.
4. Viewing & Ordering
After your session, you’ll be invited to view your gallery and select your favourite images and artwork options.

It’s best to book your session early in your second trimester to ensure availability and to secure a spot in the ideal timeframe for your photos.
The best time to photograph your maternity session is usually between 30–33 weeks of pregnancy. During this time your bump is beautifully round, but you are still likely to feel comfortable enough to enjoy the session.
All sessions are on location at either a beach or bush setting. Unless you are opting for an Heirloom Maternity session. See my Heirloom package for more details on this studio option. You will receive a location guide to help you choose your favourite location.
You’ll have access to Nicola’s curated client closet, which includes beautiful dresses designed specifically for maternity photography. You’re also welcome to bring your own outfits if you have something else in mind. You will receive a client guide which focuses on colours and textures that work well together for your shoot.
Absolutely. Many clients choose to include their partner and older children to capture the excitement of welcoming a new baby into the family.
Most maternity sessions last around 60 minutes at either sunrise or sunset, allowing plenty of time for outfit changes if needed and a relaxed, unhurried experience.
Outdoor sessions are weather-dependent. We can reschedule if it’s rainy, too windy, or otherwise unsuitable. Flexibility is key, and we aim to find the best light and conditions for your photoshoot.
Galleries are delivered online within 30 days of your photoshoot. You will receive a gallery of 50+ high resolution, digital images, from which you will choose your images depending on the package you have chosen.
Absolutely! Just let Nicola know that you would like to upgrade your package and she will inform you on how to proceed.
Yes! While the focus is on natural, candid moments, we are happy to incorporate specific ideas, favourite poses, or meaningful family traditions into your session.
Of course. I provide gentle guidance throughout the session so you never feel unsure about what to do. My goal is to make the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
