Newborn Photographer Sunshine Coast
Gentle, Natural Newborn Photography That Captures Your Baby Exactly As They Are
The newborn days are slow and fast all at once. Tiny fingers curling around yours. The way they stretch in their sleep. The soft weight of them against your chest. As a Sunshine Coast newborn photographer, I specialise in creating natural, timeless newborn photography that captures these precious early moments in a calm and baby-led way. With over 19 years of experience as a paediatric nurse, your baby’s safety, comfort and wellbeing are always my highest priority during every newborn session. Based in Bli Bli, I have a beautiful home studio for you and your family soak in all of those special newborn moments. My approach is gentle and relaxed, focusing on the connection between you and your baby rather than overly posed images. If you’re looking for newborn photography that feels authentic, timeless and beautifully simple, you’re in the right place. Parents and siblings are included in all newborn shoots.
Because This Stage Is Gone Before You Know It
You’ve waited months to meet your baby.
Now the days blur together. Feeding. Settling. Holding them close. Wondering how someone so small can take up so much space in your heart.
Most mothers tell me the same thing
- They don’t want stiff poses.
- They don’t want heavy props
- They don’t want images that feel forced.
They want to remember their baby exactly as they were.
- The flaky skin.
- The sleepy smiles.
- The way they fit perfectly in their arms.
That’s what natural newborn photography is about.
A Calm, Baby-Led Newborn Photography Experience
Nicola specialises in lifestyle newborn photography on the Sunshine Coast, focusing on connection, softness and real moments.
Every session is:
- Unrushed.
- Guided gently
- Focused on your baby’s comfort
- Designed around your family
Your baby leads the session. We pause for feeds. We stop for cuddles. We work with their rhythm, not against it.
Safety is always the highest priority. Nicola is experienced in handling and positioning newborns carefully and never places babies in unnatural or unsafe poses.
The result is a collection of timeless newborn photographs that feel organic and emotionally honest.
Including Parents and Siblings
Some of the most powerful newborn photographs are not of the baby alone.
They are of:
- A mother holding her child for the first time.
- A father’s protective hands.
- A sibling peeking in close.
Family images are always included in your newborn photography session, creating a complete story of this chapter.

Booking your Newborn Session
When To Book Your Newborn Photography Session
The best time to photograph your newborn is within the first 5 to 14 days after birth.
This is when babies are sleepier and naturally curl into those beautiful, womb-like positions.
It’s recommended to book your newborn photographer during your second trimester to secure availability around your due date. Your session date is then adjusted once baby arrives.
If your baby is already here, still reach out. Older newborn sessions are absolutely possible and can be just as meaningful.
1. Booking
Once you enquire, you’ll receive full session details, pricing information and available dates. A booking fee secures your session around your due date.
2. Preparation
You’ll receive a simple preparation guide covering what to wear, what to bring and how to prepare your baby for the session.
3. Session Day
Sessions typically last 1.5 to 2.5 hours, allowing time for feeding and settling. There is no rush. Your baby’s comfort comes first.
Parents and siblings are warmly encouraged to be included.
4. Viewing & Ordering
After your session, you’ll be invited to view your gallery and select your favourite images and artwork options.

What my clients say
Newborn Photography FAQs (Sunshine Coast)
Ideally, you would book your newborn session during pregnancy, usually in the second or early third trimester. This ensures availability around your due date and gives you the best chance of securing a studio session within bub’s first two weeks of life.
The best time for newborn photos is usually when baby is between 5–14 days old. At this age babies are still very sleepy and curled up which is perfect for those classic newborn poses.
That’s totally fine! Older babies can still be beautifully photographed. If your baby is 2–6 weeks old, we’ll focus more on natural posing, eye-open images and sleepy shots where we can.
Newborn sessions take place in my home studio in Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast. The studio is set up to be warm, calm, clean and comfortable for newborns and their families.
Most newborn sessions take around 1.5 – 2.5 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, settling and breaks without feeling rushed.

Once you have booked your session with me I will send you a client guide which will go through your clothing options and I also provide guidance on what partners should wear and what to avoid.
Please don’t stress — it’s completely normal. I work slowly and gently, and I allow plenty of time for settling. Awake photos can be just as beautiful, and baby-led sessions often create the most natural images.
