Booking your Family Session
When To Book Your Family Photography Session
The best time to book a family photography session is a couple of months in advance. This allows time to plan around your family’s schedule and secure your preferred outdoor location and time of day (Sunrise ore Sunset) — when the light is softest and most flattering.
While there’s no “perfect age” for children, planning ahead ensures your session can capture your family at a stage that’s meaningful to you. Whether it’s toddlers exploring, older kids laughing together, or extended family joining in, every age brings its own unique moments.
1. Booking
Once you enquire, you’ll receive full session details, pricing information and available dates. A booking fee secures your session around your due date.
2. Preparation
You’ll receive a simple preparation guide covering what to wear, what to bring and how to prepare for your family session.
3. Session Day
Sessions typically last 1 hour at either Sunrise or Sunset. This gives very soft, even, flattering light. You will receive an exact location and meeting time, one week prior to your shoot.
4. Viewing & Ordering
After your session, you’ll be invited to view your gallery and select your favourite images and artwork options.

It’s best to book a couple of months in advance. This ensures we can secure your preferred outdoor location, date and a time that works for your family’s schedule.
Most sessions last between 60–70 minutes. This gives plenty of time for kids to warm up, explore, and enjoy themselves, while still capturing relaxed and natural moments..
All sessions are on location at either a beach or bush setting. Shooting in natural light helps create organic, timeless images. You will receive a location guide to help you choose your favourite location.
Choose outfits that feel comfortable and reflect your family’s style. Neutral or soft tones work beautifully outdoors, and coordinating (not matching) outfits usually photograph best. Avoid bold logos or distracting patterns. You will receive a client guide which focuses on colours and textures that work well together for your shoot.
Absolutely! Extended family are welcome. Including grandparents, cousins, or even pets adds depth and connection to your session and creates a full story of your family. Extended family sessions incur an extra cost. please message for details.
With over 19 years of paediatric nursing experience working with children, Nicola knows how to make kids feel comfortable and engaged. Sessions are child-led — we pause for breaks, follow their rhythm, and capture genuine smiles and interactions rather than forcing poses.
Outdoor sessions are weather-dependent. We can reschedule if it’s rainy, too windy, or otherwise unsuitable. Flexibility is key, and we aim to find the best light and conditions for your family.
Galleries are delivered online within 30 days of your photoshoot. You will receive a gallery of 50+ high resolution, digital images, from which you will choose your images depending on the package you have chosen.
Absolutely! Just let Nicola know that you would like to upgrade your package and she will inform you on how to proceed.
Yes! While the focus is on natural, candid moments, we are happy to incorporate specific ideas, favourite poses, or meaningful family traditions into your session.
